Pre Review:
When Wonder Woman hit theaters, I became OBSESSED! Wonder Woman grew a special place in my heart and 5 days later, I adopted 2 cats and named one of them Diana Prince. When I heard one of my favorite authors would be doing a book on Wonder Woman, or rather a whole series based on these DC legends would be done by some of the top best selling authors, I was so excited.

Needless to say, it was soon after I got my hands on this book at San Diego Comic Con, that I entered a massive reading slump from which I still haven't recovered. Here I am, trying to revive myself and I find myself currently with the book in my lap, excited to actually open the pages and actually get to it. I have been reading some comics so I have a bit of a more solid taste of the original Wonder Woman, fingers crossed I love this as much.
Review to come.

Review: The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien

Rate:
4/5

Goodreads Description:
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkeness bind them

In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, The Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit.

In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

Review:
I knew as I read the book that having seen the movies first was a mistake, but there isnt anything that I can do about that can I?
With that being said, I liked the movies better xD
I know, sue me. J. R. R. Tolkien still managed to make a fantastic world, its unmatched, I didnt hate the books, I dont think anyone can really hate the books. There are things that are different, which is to be expected in any adaptation, but I did find some parts of the book and I was like okay when is this gonna happen? Did this happen at that time? I thought this was later? Shit like that you know?
I'm always so surprised when I find out when this book was published, it was ahead of its time, even today its just something that doesn't fail to impress. Its a book for the generations.

Recommend it?
Its a must.

Review: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Rate:
3.5/5

Goodreads Description:
Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.

But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.

There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

Review:
After everyone screaming their love over this series at the four winds I have finally caved in and read it annnndd... Im not so impressed.
There is so much going on in this book that it sure does make an impact and to be honest it can be realistic in those aspects because hey, life isnt sweet. I dont want to spoil which is why I avoid going into details. The writting it good, which keeps the reader entertained, the story line it self for the most part is cliche but of course, Sabaa made it her bitch and made it her own. I feel like the main part that annoyed me from this book was actually the love part of it. I dont always ship main characters, for me, they have to be done right, in a way that im envious. But this one just kind of didn't do it. I guess its because the characters are supposed to be so freaking beautiful and I dont relate to that. But hey, its refreshing that the main character doesnt think herself as basic XD that she has some self confidence.
I feel like the reason that I didnt love this bok is my own fault, for reading so many books, one after the other that offer the same plot line and in the end, the same ending.

Recommend it?
MMMMM I do, the book isnt bad but it wasn't worth the hype for me personally.
