Episode 23: Reading Challenges
Goal:
This is my second year doing this challenge and I am super fucking proud to say I outdid myself by a lot!
Like never have I read this many books in a year!
I honestly thought I wasnt going to be able to do it, but damn... Damn
So this year I set myself the challenge of reading 60 books
But I have gone WAY over that and have reached 103
Last year my challenge was of 52 and I reached 81
Like yeah THAT should've been an indicator that I was going to be able to reach my goal this year but I felt like I was really pushing myself and that to be honest I wasn't going to be able to push myself as much this year but lo and behold, I have outdone that by a lot!
So as I did last year, I am going to be doing my top 10 books of the year and my bottom 5!

1. The Burning World- Isaac Marion (Review)
So this one will actually come out this February (
pre-order HERE) but I was blessed enough to get my hands on the ARC of this book thanks to my friend going to a meet up that the author held in San Francisco (He did meet ups all along the west coast but I sadly missed the San Diego one). Anyways, this book was freaking AMAZING!
And reminded me how much I love Isaac Marion as an author and he totally does not get the recognition he deserves! Yall need to read his books, like seriously.
2. Throne of Glass- Sarah J Maas (Review)
So this series I feel like everyone and their mother have heard about it, specially with the announcement of it turning into a television show. I had avoided reading the series for as long as possible, I wanted all the books to be out before I read it and oh boy.
I finally caved. I actually caved after Empire of Storms came out and everyone started hating the author for the plot twist and I was like DAMN! If an author can make you feel that strongly about a plot twist, this must be good! And it WAS
So it is no secret that I love Marissa Meyer, and so to hear that she would be releasing a stand alone for an Alice and Wonderland Queen of Hearts book I knew I needed it.
For this one, I was blessed enough to get my hands on a signed ARC (It is my baby) and after MONTHS of having read it, I have yet to get over that kiss ass transition!
It really was an awesome book.
4. Lady Midnight- Cassandra Clare
So this one was though. I was severely conflicted with hating it with all the pop culture references and also loving it for it. Because you know what, it really IS a whole different world in Southern California, even more where the book is based.
And of course, the love aspect to this one just fucking got to me! Making this one of my favorite reads of 2016.
5. Game of Thrones- George R. R. Martin (
Review)
So I am a fan of the show and was just itching to read the books and oh boy was it a ride! Words can not explain how much I loved it...Seriously!
6. Clockwork Princess- Cassandra Clare
So this series was recommended to me by 2 different people and they told me that it was going to destroy my heart. And holy shit were they correct.
A piece of me died with the ending of this series. I hardcover cried and have no regrets.
7. This is Where it Ends- Marieke Nijkamp (Review)
This book was seriously scary. The realism in this book was one of the scariest things I ever had to read. I didnt know that a book could make me so emotional and actually put some legit fear in me and it is all due to the fact that it has happened and it can continue to happen. I am not willing to say will continue to happen. I refuse.
8. Resurrecting Sunshine- Lisa A. Koosis (Review)
This book was really freaking interesting in the fact that it made me really think about the rightness or lack of if we were able to bring back out dead loved ones. Would I? They point out how the whole thing might actually feel, how it would actually work. And just the whole concept of accepting a death and moving on.
9. Twelve Angry Men- Reginald Rose
This book was brilliant. Just brilliant. Probably one of my favorite plays ever.
Need more Han and Leia via a kick ass writer? This is the way to go. I honestly love Claudia Gray, her style of writing is addictive. If you haven't read any of her books in the past, this is a true way to go.

1. Three Dark Crowns- Kendare Blake (
Review)
I was massively disappointed in this book. I was promised kick ass heroines and a fight. This all focused on the love aspect of each of the girls and to be honest, I couldn't feel for any of them because we didn't have time to get to know the guys, we were just thrown at them and expected to love them.
2. The Siren- Kiera Cass
I loved her Selection series so of course I wanted to love this one too but gosh darn was it boring for me! And annoying! The main character, whos name I have forgotten was just annoying and whiny.
3. Nightlight- The Harvard Lampoon
I love twilight parodies or remakes. But no one does it better than Twilight Fan-fiction writers. This one was just so freaking awful. It has started out good but then just went down the freaking drain.
4. The Cruelty- Scott Bergstrom (Review)
This one was promising to me... And that is all it ever was because lord jesus christ, was it just soooo not what it needed to be. The tone of the book was just all wrong and the time aspects of it were just very WTF. Like trained spy in a matter or weeks and now has a totally different body? 1. who believes that?! 2. What are you trying to say here? There was so controversy with the author that I avoided until AFTER I read the review but I now see what everyone was screeching out.
5. Solitaire- Alice Oseman
UGHHHHHHH Tori, the main character was soooooo UGGHHH Like who are you trying to convince youre super fucking average and so friendless and a super loner? Because I could deal with it the first 100 pages but after that its just a huge fucking no. Like its like youre trying to convince yourself at this point and youre not believing yourself.
